Demand fair media coverage for March for Life!

Abortion is a grave evil in our society. It’s critical that we fight on all fronts to empower women and protect vulnerable, unborn babies. There are many means by which we can accomplish this goal, but it’s no secret that abolishing Roe v. Wade would be a huge victory for human dignity.

That is why each year on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, 200,000 people converge in DC for the March for Life Rally. Despite a travel-restricting blizzard last year, record numbers of protesters showed up in 2016. However, the three major news networks—CBS, ABC, and NBC—only gave the protest 15 seconds of coverage.

Please join me in asking these networks to fairly cover the March for Life! Major media outlets hold a huge sway over general public perception. The pro-life movement is strong and vibrant! It is critical that media outlets give proper coverage to newsworthy events—such as a crowd of 200,000 from across the country and around the world converging to protest the most despised decision the Supreme Court has ever issued.

This lack of coverage is clearly meant to harm the movement, revealing deep prejudice on the part of major media outlets. In 2015, when the Center for Medical Progress revealed that Planned Parenthood was selling aborted babies body parts, major media outlets chose to ignore that revelation and instead devote numerous news cycles to the death of Cecil the Lion. Indeed, there has already been more coverage of the planned, future protest of Donald Trump’s inauguration than there has been of the larger, decades-long streak of March for Life protests in the past!

The media must wake up and realize that we mean business. The death of a lion is not a bigger news story than Planned Parenthood systemically trafficking human body parts. The annual March for Life is real, important news—no matter what the networks’ prejudices are.

The March for Life is being held this year on January 27 in Washington DC. We know that every abortion results in a dead baby and a damaged mother. This is something we must stand against.

Let’s make sure our protest is heard on the 27th! Join me in urging the media to do their job and cover the news!

Cover March for Life!

CBS, ABC, and NBC,

Last year, at the annual March for Life to protest the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, over 200,000 protesters from around the country and across the world converged in Washington, D.C., despite a travel-restricting blizzard. However, you only devoted 15 seconds of coverage to this massive event.

That seems odd given that you are in the business of covering the news. It would appear that a protest of that scale that takes over our nation’s capitol would be worth at least decent coverage, especially since you’ve already covered a planned protest of Donald Trump’s inauguration even though it hasn’t happened yet, and it will undoubtedly be much smaller than the March for Life.

This year, I hope you will correct your error and give the March for Life protest adequate coverage. I have heard a lot recently from your outlets about the dangers of “fake news.” I don’t deny that it is imperative that we rely on trustworthy sources. But how can I trust your coverage when it’s clear that you are avoiding covering a massive protest because you don’t like what the protesters are opposing?

I would strongly suggest you return to the business of reporting news (whether you like it or not) this January and actually cover the March for Life decently this January 27.

Otherwise, you will alienate pro-lifers everywhere. Which, by the way, make up over 50 percent of the country.

Cover March for Life!

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
