Support bill to ban late-term abortions in Oregon
Several weeks ago, Oregon lawmakers introduced legislation that would ban late-term abortions in Oregon! If passed, HB 3017 would reverse current law and prohibit doctors from aborting babies who are more than 20 weeks old!
This is a critically important step towards further protecting the lives of the unborn in Oregon. Please urge the House Committee On Health Care to pass this important life saving bill!
The scientific community agrees that after 20 weeks (and probably even sooner!), unborn babies can feel pain. As a result of this scientific evidence, 17 other states have passed similar legislation to prevent abortion after a baby can certainly feel excruciating pain.
By 20 weeks, an unborn baby looks just like what he is—a baby. The reality is that from the moment of conception, each individual person is a person worth protecting. By just six weeks, before most women even know they are pregnant, the unborn baby is developing his nose, mouth, and ears. By 12 weeks, that baby’s heartbeat can be easily heard with a Doppler.
How is it possible that abortion is legal at all—let alone up until 20 weeks of development? The terrible reality is that we are allowing babies to be killed every single day. In fact, every day Planned Parenthood alone aborts 887 babies.
Fortunately, 25 state lawmakers have signed on as cosponsors of HB 3017.
But not all lawmakers feel this way. Some in our culture are fighting to expand abortion and find no problem with killing babies and then selling their organs, brains, and limbs.
That is why our action is so important.
We must remember that every abortion ends a human life that is made in the image of God. There is sanctity in each and every human life, and we must fight on all fronts to protect unborn children.
Please urge the House Committee On Health Care to pass HB 3017 out of committee!
