Oppose the California bill that would make the use of “incorrect gender pronouns” a crime!

One of the most exciting moments for any pregnant couple is finding out the gender of their child. By the eighteenth week, it is obvious via ultrasound whether the couple is having a little boy or a little girl. The ultrasound technician doesn’t do a brain scan of the baby or ask the baby which gender the baby identifies with – she simply checks to see which reproductive organs the child has!

Sex is determined at the point of conception and it does not change. However, some lawmakers in California are determined to criminalize caregivers who believe this simple truth!

SB 219, introduced by Senator Scott Wiener of San Francisco, would impose fines and jail time on long-term caregivers who decline to use transgender pronouns. Penalties for referring to a man as a man and a woman as a woman if they would prefer to be called the opposite could be up to 1,000 dollars or a year in jail. This bill has been referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee for consideration.

Please sign this petition now to the Senate Appropriations Committee asking them to reject this bill! Not only is it nonsensical, but it also opens caregivers up to dangerous liability and will force some Christian caregivers out of the industry!

The text of this bill reads: “it shall be unlawful for a long-term care facility or facility staff to … willfully and repeatedly fail to use a resident’s preferred name or pronouns after being clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns.  Any person who violates this chapter, or who willfully or repeatedly violates any rule or regulation adopted under this chapter, is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000), by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed one year, or by both the fine and imprisonment.”

As Greg Burt, with the California Family Council, testified, “This is not tolerance. This is not love. This is not mutual respect …. True tolerance, tolerates people with different views.  We need to treat each other with respect, but respect is a two-way street. It is not respectful to threaten people with punishment for having sincerely held beliefs that differ from your own.”

Many on the left have turned sex and sexual expression into a kind of god. According to this dogmatic religion of self-expression – there must be complete conformity. Never mind the First Amendment and Freedom of Speech—if caregivers don’t encourage sexual behavior they believe to be detrimental (or sexual identities they believe to be false), they can be sent to prison! In the face of this sort of coercion, it is imperative that Christians stand as a unified voice against the culture and work to protect one another against this aggressive worldview!

Please sign this petition now opposing SB 219!

No on SB 219!

Senate Appropriations Committee,

It has come to my attention that you considering SB 219, introduced by Senator Scott Wiener of San Francisco. This bill would impose fines and jail time on long-term caregivers who decline to use transgender pronouns. Penalties for referring to a man as a man and a woman as a woman could be up to 1,000 dollars and/or a year in jail.

I urge you to reject this bill! Not only is it nonsensical, but it also opens caregivers up to dangerous liability and will force some Christian caregivers out of the industry!

People of conviction must not be forced to use language they feel is incorrect or harmful. This bill will primarily serve to punish diverse worldviews, let alone clearly violate the First Amendment right not to be forced to express a message with which one disagrees. Please reject this oppressive and anti–free speech bill.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
