Call for Taoiseach to Repeal and Replace Children's Minister Zappone!

In one of the most cynical and tragically ironic events in Irish political life in recent memory, Katherine Zappone, the Irish Minister for Children has announced her support for the killing of unborn children, by the removal of the 8th Amendment to the Irish Constitution.

This event was occasioned by the Citizens' Assembly's recent extremist call for abortion in practically any circumstance, including for "socio-economic" reasons.

The sheer depravity of the Assembly's ballot, identifying different stages of pregnancy where innocent life could be destroyed was sickening and appalling, in equal measure.

And, here's what a Minister of the state, for "Children" no less, said about the same:

"Once again a gathering of Irish citizens has shown us a path forward based on equality, fairness and justice."

She described the Assembly's views - supporting abortion for any reason, almost at anytime - as "fitting of a modern, open and fair democracy."

Minister Zappone is not fit for office. A politician who approves of legalising the killing of preborn children cannot be a Minister for Children. It is a gross hypocrisy and her position is untenable. No child deserves to be killed.

In fact, the 8th Amendment is one of the most equality-centred amendments to the Irish Constitution - where the state, "acknowledges the right to life of the unborn and, with due regard to the equal right to life of the mother, guarantees in its laws to respect, and, as far as practicable, by its laws to defend and vindicate that right."

It could not be more clear. The 8th Amendment seeks to protect the equal right to life of both mother and child.

And, yet, the Minister for Children thinks this is somehow unjust, unfair or inequal.

With such a flawed understanding of the law, the English language (which is actually good, but even less clear than the Irish), and with what constitutes her job as a Minister for Children, and the protection of the same, this petition calls on An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, to seek Katherine Zappone's resignation, forthwith.

By her support of the Citizens' Assembly's barbarous recommendations, the Minister has demonstrated that she cannot be trusted to vindicate the rights of the weakest and most vulnerable children in the country - unborn children.

Her partisan display on this issue, as well as the other controversies in which she has been embroiled, gives ample cause for An Taoiseach to demand from Zappone her resignation.

If that were not enough, Fine Gael should carefully consider its prospects in the next General Election should Zappone, and her cronies, succeed in forcing on the Irish people a referendum they neither want, nor support.

Thank you for signing this urgent petition!

Zappone's Resignation as Minister for Children Should be Sought After Supporting Killing of Unborn Children

For the Kind Attention of:

  • An Taoiseach, Mr Enda Kenny

In one of the most cynical and tragically ironic events in Irish political life in recent memory, Katherine Zappone, the Irish Minister for Children has announced her support for the killing of preborn children, by the removal of the 8th Amendment to the Irish Constitution.

This event was occasioned by the Citizens' Assembly's recent extremist call for abortion in practically any circumstance, including for "socio-economic" reasons.

The depravity of the Assembly's ballot, identifying different stages of pregnancy where innocent life could be destroyed, was appalling.

But, Minister Zappone believes that the Assembly's extremist, discriminatory, eugenic-minded ballot - basically calling for abortion-on-demand - is somehow is a path to "equality, fairness and justice."

Nothing could be further from the truth!

She believes that some children - those who are most vulnerable and most defenceless - can be killed before birth. This makes her unfit for office.

With such a flawed understanding of the law, and her job as a Minister for Children, we, the undersigned, call on An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, to seek Katherine Zappone's resignation, forthwith.

By her support of the Citizens' Assembly's recommendations, the Minister has demonstrated that she cannot be trusted to vindicate the rights of the weakest and most vulnerable children in the country - unborn children.

Thank you for your urgent and serious consideration.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
