Thank the Justice Department for upholding free speech rights for pro-life advocates in Kentucky!

Being pro-life in America today can be extremely difficult. In fact, at times there are serious negative social and professional consequences for individuals who stand up for the unborn.

Often, pro-abortion supporters demand buffer zones around abortion clinics to prevent pro-life workers from praying for or counseling young women who are considering abortion. In some states, therefore, the First Amendment does not apply equally to pro-life protesters and counselors.

Fortunately, the U.S. Justice Department has just decided not to enforce an anti-free speech buffer zone around the last remaining abortion clinic in Kentucky! This is an important victory for the pro-life movement and for free speech. Although a temporary zone is in place, it is set to expire soon, enabling pro-life advocates to speak freely on behalf of women and babies! Please thank the Justice Department for saying no a permanent buffer zone!

Kentucky lawyer Vincent Heuser says the Justice Department’s ruling is a pro-life victory. “In Louisville, the sidewalk counselors have been nothing but peaceful. To be honest, they have given the Lord a good name.”

EMW Women’s Clinic in Louisville is the last remaining abortion clinic in the state. Peaceful, thoughtful pro-life advocacy there could help to ultimately shut down this clinic. And that would be a huge victory for all women and children in Kentucky.

Pro-abortion advocates try to claim that they are merely “pro-choice.” However, abortion advocates often tell women there is only one appropriate choice for them –terminating their pregnancy.

Women deserve real choices when facing unplanned pregnancies. Pro-life advocates know that abortion clinics are harmful to women and dishonest. That’s why pro-life advocates should be encouraged to make their voices heard!

As a series of recent investigative videos produced by Live Action have demonstrated, Planned Parenthood clinics and other abortion clinics offer women only one option – abortion. Planned Parenthood clinics (1) do not offer prenatal care, (2) won’t allow use of ultrasounds for anything other than abortion, and, in fact, (3) are required to meet certain quotas of abortions each month. One of these facts being true is a travesty; all three make the mission of Planned Parenthood and all its “pro-choice” supporters clear—perform as many abortions as possible!

This is also the main focus of the EMW Women’s Clinic in Louisville: not serving women’s actual needs, but ending the lives of unborn babies and harming women in the process. Giving pro-lifers a voice against this institution is a huge step forward. Please thank the Justice Department for not imposing an unconstitutional and anti-free speech permanent buffer zone around the clinic.

No to buffer zones!

Justice Department,

Often, pro-abortion supporters demand buffer zones around abortion clinics to prevent pro-life workers from praying for or counseling young women who are considering abortion. Ultimately, they try to strip First Amendment Free Speech rights from pro-lifers based on their views.

Fortunately, you have just said that you will not enforce a permanent buffer zone around the last remaining abortion clinic in Kentucky. This is an important victory for free speech.

Although a temporary zone is in place, it is set to soon expire which will enable pro-life advocates to speak freely on behalf of women and babies. Please make sure to protect the rights of all citizens and allow this “buffer zone” to end.

Thank you for standing for free speech and expression in Kentucky.

Sincerely,
