Thank the Huffington Post for rebutting the mindset of eugenics in the Netherlands!

Too often, the media only speaks out in favor of “liberal” causes. They usually speak out in favor of Democratic candidates or “progressive” causes like gay marriage, transgenderism, and abortion. As we’ve recently reported, the New York Times and other famous media outlets often promote the messages of Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and other pro-abortion groups. The Huffington Post, too, is usually just a Democrat propaganda machine.

But fortunately, the Huffington Post diverted from this path recently by publishing an article that condemned the mindset of eugenics, which has overtaken public thinking in the Netherlands.  Sign here to thank the Huffington Post for publishing a variety of viewpoints – including pro-life Op-Eds! We need to thank even liberal outlets when they get it right!

The Op-Ed was published in response to a letter in a Netherlands national newspaper that suggested that parents who decline to abort children with Down syndrome should be forced to a pay a fine. Author Michael van der Lubbe argued that the “freedom to birth disabled children should be limited by the ‘financial burden’ to society…Declining to abort, despite the availability of prenatal technology like Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), should have financial consequences for parents.”

This is on the heels of a truly horrendous article published by CBS about the abortion children with Down syndrome. The headline read: “Iceland is on pace to virtually eliminate Down syndrome through abortion.” That’s right, CBS thought that by aborting virtually every baby who has Down syndrome, Iceland is “eliminate[ing] Down syndrome.”

The article published by the Huffington Post in response to the piece by Michael van der Lubbe argued for the dignity of people with Down syndrome. The author, Renate Lindeman, is a mother of two daughters with Down syndrome and argued that the lives of her daughters, and all Down syndrome people, are priceless.

Killing every unborn baby with a certain condition is not a cure for that condition—it’s straight up eugenics. The same system that led to racism in this country and Nazism and the Holocaust abroad. How can so many on the left simultaneously denounce Nazis while also praising Planned Parenthood and NARAL—organizations that celebrate this sort of use of eugenics?

This blatant disrespect for the value of Down syndrome lives is appalling—and thankfully, at least one publication was willing to call it what it is: killing. In order to change the culture against abortion, we need to praise those who speak out for life when they do, so that more will join!

Please thank the Huffington Post for publishing an article that opposes eugenics and upholds the value of all human lives.

Huffington Post,

You recently published an article that condemned the mindset of eugenics, which has overtaken public thinking in the Netherlands. Thank you for publishing a variety of viewpoints – including pro-life Op-Eds!

The Op-Ed was published in response to a letter published in a Netherlands National newspaper that suggested that parents who decline to abort children with Down syndrome should be forced to a pay a fine. The response piece which you published, written by Renate Lindeman, a mother of two daughters with Down syndrome, argues that the lives of her daughters, and all Down syndrome people, are priceless.

Killing every unborn baby with a certain condition is not a cure for that condition—it’s straight up eugenics. Eugenics is the same system that led to racism in this country and Nazism and the Holocaust abroad.
