PETITION TO THE AFRICAN UNION
African Union: Penalize President Muhammadu Buhari for Christian Persecution in Nigeria
African Union: Penalize President Muhammadu Buhari for Christian Persecution in Nigeria
Kidnappings and the massacre of Christians by Boko Haram extremists have become the norm of the day in Nigeria.
The government of the President of Buhari has failed to protect its citizenry despite many petitions and pleas from our members and the globe.
It does not last a week without children being kidnapped or priests, pastors, fathers, mothers and even pastors who are either killed or held captive on forests manned by the bandits.
More Christians are murdered for their faith in Nigeria than in any other country. Open Doors has ranked Nigeria as number nine (nine) worldwide in Christian persecution which is very worrying.
Nigeria entered the top 10 of the 2021 World Watch List even as the government seems unable or unwilling to protect its Christian citizens. Islamic extremist attacks have not abated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many Christians who are staying at home to combat the spread of the virus have been vulnerable to attack.
School going children are also not spared. A number of Christian schools have been ordered to close in northern Nigeria following a spike in kidnappings.
The question is for how long will this continue?
We need action to be taken ASAP and that is why we are asking the African Union to now take decisive action against president Buhari for his failure to protect his Christian citizens
