Drop charges against Christian journalist Luka Binniyat
A journalist who wrote an article accusing the Nigerian government of failing to protect Christians threatened by armed militants was arrested and will be tried on charges of “cyberstalking.”
Luka Binniyat, a Catholic human rights reporter, is facing prison after writing an article in which the Nigerian government was criticized for its inaction in the face of an ongoing threat to Christian communities.
In the article, Binniyat reported on charges that Kaduna State’s Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, had mischaracterized the massacre of unarmed Christians as a “clash” between villagers and herdsmen.

Dear Chief Justice is Olukayode Ariwoola,
I write to demand that you drop all charges against journalist Luka.
Luka has been courageously exposing the Christian massacres that are happening day in and day out in Nigeria and now your courts are being misused to muzzle him.
The killings that are ongoing in Nigeria are unfortunate and they need to be exposed. Silencing a voice so crucial is illegal and unwarranted.
The situation in Nigeria of silencing journalists is regrettable and it is time your courts redeemed themselves by stopping the misuse of courts to harass members of the press who are just doing their jobs.
Kindly act immediately.
