What's Happening in Waterloo Catholic Schools?
Trustee Conrad Stanley is standing up for something big.
He’s calling for Pride flags to be removed from all Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) schools—and for flagpoles to stay neutral. Why? Because he believes our Catholic schools should reflect Catholic values, not bow to political pressure.
On April 28, trustees will vote again. And the pressure is mounting.
We’ve seen this play out before. When Catholic schools are forced to raise Pride flags, it sends a message that clashes with Church teachings on family, sexuality, and parental rights. It puts ideology above faith.
Other school boards—like York and Dufferin-Peel—have already pushed back. Now it’s Waterloo’s turn to stand strong.
Activists are already rallying. They're calling on trustees to block the motion and keep the flags flying.
But silence from families like ours? That’s what really puts Catholic education at risk.
This isn’t about hate. It’s about mission. Catholic schools have a responsibility to stay rooted in truth, not to get swept into every cultural current. Flying the Pride flag isn’t neutral—it sends a clear signal that undermines what Catholic schools are supposed to stand for.
We need to act. We need to speak up before April 28.
Sign the petition today. Tell WCDSB Trustees: Keep our schools focused on faith. Ban politically charged flags.
Here’s what’s at stake:
This motion isn’t extreme. It’s a step toward clarity and unity. One Canadian flag. One Catholic mission. No outside political symbols.
If we don’t speak up, we risk seeing our schools lose their identity and purpose. But if we mobilize—families, parishioners, voters—we can make a real impact. These trustees are elected. They answer to us.
Let’s remind them: Catholic families care. We’re paying attention. And we’re not afraid to defend our faith.
Join us. Sign the petition. Make your voice heard before April 28.
For our kids. For our schools. For our faith. It’s time to stand strong.

Protect the Catholic Identity of Our Schools—Support Flagpole Neutrality
Dear WCDSB Trustees,
As a concerned member of the Catholic school community, I’m writing to express strong support for Trustee Conrad Stanley’s motion to keep our school flagpoles neutral.
Catholic schools exist to pass on the faith—not political or ideological messages that contradict it. Flying the Pride flag sends a message that’s out of step with Catholic teachings on family, sexuality, and parental authority.
Parents choose Catholic education because they want their children to grow up in an environment where their beliefs are supported, not challenged or sidelined.
Other boards—like York and Dufferin-Peel—have already taken thoughtful, principled stands by keeping their flagpoles free from political messaging. Waterloo should do the same.
I urge you to vote YES to this motion. It’s a clear, respectful way to affirm the Catholic mission of our schools and honor the trust that parents place in them.
Kind regards,
[Your Name]
