Petition to Ministers Pablo Rodriguez & LeBlanc
Stop Woke Research Receiving Tax Dollars
Stop Woke Research Receiving Tax Dollars
Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Government Announced an eye-watering $1.2 million dollars towards “Research” designed to censor Canadian’s Freedom of Speech and Expression on the Internet, including CitizenGO’s efforts within Canada.
On January 11, 2023, the Canadian Heritage Minister, Pablo Rodriguez, along with the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities, Dominic LeBlanc, announced that Canadians would be spending this massive sum on 16 individual research projects.
The problem with these projects is that they are designed to silence Canadians concerned about the woke ideologies plaguing our culture. Each project will focus on one or more of the following areas:
-
Finding new ways to censor content critical of the government and mainstream media’s “core woke, progressive values” that seek to destroy life, family, and religion,
-
Developing new media moderation tools capable of censoring “perceived” racist and hateful against "marginalized" groups within Canada,
-
Expanding woke progressive ideals upon the youth beyond the already ideologically charged school classrooms into family homes.
The government published backgrounder details that this "research" will discover "evidence" about how "misinformation" is hurting Canadian society and communities.
Definitions of what would constitute as "misinformation," "hateful," "racist," or "extreme" included in any of the project descriptions are not clear. "Non-media sources" is also not defined, meaning that many pro-life, pro-family, and pro-liberty individuals and organizations could fall under that vaguely defined category and likely face online government censorship, including CitizenGO.
Furthermore, the government documents also fail to provide transparency on how each project was deemed worthy of funding. These projects attempt to utilize "scholarly research" to justify the passing of online censorship laws, including the hotly contested Bill C-11 and Bill C-36, which seek to regulate what Canadians see online.
Please sign and let Ministers Rodriguez and LeBlanc know Canadians DO NOT SUPPORT RESEARCH WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS designed to infringe on Canadians' Fundamental Rights and Freedoms.
