Petition to: The Prime Minister - Boris Johnson
For the Prime Minister to call for a National Day of Prayer
For the Prime Minister to call for a National Day of Prayer
The reason why we are submitting this petition to the Prime Minister is because I understand that he is the only one who can call a National Day of Prayer.
The reason for this appeal is that historically only prayer has delivered this nation from a time of crisis, as evidenced in both in the First World War in 1918 and even more so in WWII. All the more reason when we have no human answer to the corona virus which has devastated both health and our economy, to seek God’s answer.
When even our government accepts that Christians are the most persecuted minority in the world, it is time for us to once again demonstrate our need both nationally and individually for God’s help. The hymn writer puts it clearly ‘O God our help in ages past our hope for years to come.’
It is important for Christians and Churches to stand up for what we believe. If we don’t, what I experienced during 30 years of ministry in the former communist territories, will happen here. The churches will be divided into those who accept government control over their worship and ministry and are registered and those who stand firm on Biblical, evangelical truth and are forced underground and face persecution. But out of those underground, persecuted churches, came the revival which has swept Russia and the Ukraine. I see the attempt to restrict our worship will be followed by a control over us when we preach Biblical truth, as is already happening. A judge has already stated that it is against the law to quote the Bible in the street!
There is only one way to revival today, it is to stand firm on Biblical faith and through suffering and prayer, with repentance, God will honour us. That is why Jesus said, if you will come after Me, take up your cross and follow me. Please sign this petition and encourage others to do the same.
