The Tate Gallery, the UK’s largest art gallery, has decided that instead of encouraging understanding and appreciation of art, its role is to promote gender theory to and sexualise children.

To this end, Tate has booked controversial drag queen “Aida H Dee” as their headline free event for children over the February half-term.

Drag queens have long been known as a niche form of adult entertainment predominantly found in gay nightclubs. Drag queens present a highly sexualised, demeaning and distorted vision of women, which many members of the public find offensive.

Drag acts do not constitute education and do not teach tolerance. Their aim is to expose children to sexualised and political messaging regarding the LGBTQ+ movement.

Aside from the general concerns about drag, the performer booked for the event, Aida H Dee,  real name Seb Samuel, should not be given a platform to promote himself to children.

Mr Samuel has shared a number of images and comments on social media, which raise some safeguarding concerns. In a post from July 2020, Seb Samuel wrote that love has no age’, a phrase once used by the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE), which sought to legalise sex between adults and children.

In August 2019, the performer known as Aida H Dee shared an image of a pubescent boy and an old man, commenting that gay clubs are wild because “you can meet both types and be told both are 23”! The performer also made a dangerous and incorrect claim in November 2022 that puberty blockers are temporary, not permanent.

This man is entitled to his views but should not be paid public money to promote them to children in the name of art.

This is not the only concern at the Tate - in addition to the dubious performances of Aida H Dee,  they are also promoting a series of spring workshops for schoolchildren replete with gender ideology whereby all of the artists share their pronouns, and two of the teaching artists state that their material explores their transgender experience!

Tate has also produced a teaching and guidance resource for teachers and schools co-authored with Gendered Intelligence, a transgender lobby group, which is replete with gender ideology and encourages educational professionals to break the law!

Stop gender propaganda at the Tate

I am writing to you to express my concern over how the Tate gallery targets children with gender propaganda.

The Tate has booked a controversial ‘drag queen’, Aida H Dee, to feature for a free half-term event aimed at children. Not only is drag highly inappropriate for children, thanks to the sexualised nature of the costumes and performances, but it is also a form of entertainment that many people find offensive and political.

The performer you booked has also made several alarming comments on social media which raise a number of safeguarding flags, including repeating a slogan associated with a paedophilia advocacy group.

Gender ideology also features heavily in your programme of Spring workshops for schools where two of the teaching artists share their transgender experiences and all artists introduce their pronouns. A resource that you have published for schools also heavily promotes gender ideology and includes advice about shared toilets and changing rooms which is in contravention of the law and guidance issued by the Department of Education.

As a public body funded by public money, you have an obligation to the entire public, many of whom are excluded from accessing your services by your partisan attitude supporting a highly controversial subject.

Please cancel the half-term performance of Aida H Dee and take all necessary steps, including re-publishing your booklet (which was authored by a transgender activist group) to stop promoting gender ideology to children.
