The annual Brit Awards is the biggest event in UK Music. Running since 1977, the Brits celebrate the successes and achievements of the leading British artists over the past 12 months.

The Brits bill themselves as an annual showcase for the UK music industry that not only celebrates the biggest successes in music but also provides an important platform to introduce and promote new talent.

In 2022 the Brits pandered to ideology, went woke and scrapped the ‘Best Male’ and ‘Best Female’ artist categories, instead replacing them with one ‘gender-neutral’ Best Artist category.

This year, only 12 female artists made it onto the long list of 77 artists, and all five of the shortlisted artists are male.

For the first time in the 46-year history of the Brit Awards, a female artist will not be celebrated for her work over the past year.

Excuses from the Brits voting academy about there being fewer women releasing music just don’t cut it. The new gender-neutral category does nothing to encourage or nurture female talent. It ironically excludes and sidelines 50% of the population in the name of ‘inclusion’.

This decision is all part of a much wider agenda attempting to impose gender ideology across the whole of society, primarily to the detriment of women and girls.  Language must be changed; single-sex categories must be scrapped, and men must be allowed an unfair advantage in female sports and given entry into their private spaces and changing rooms to pander to the feelings of a minority.

Sign the petition demanding that the Brit Awards reinstate separate male and female categories.

Reinstate separate sex artist categories at the Brits

I wish to express my dismay that for the first time in the 45-year history of the Brit Awards, there will be no recognition of the work of British female artists in the recording industry.

This is a  complete betrayal of women in the industry, which has come about as a result of the awards deciding to merge the categories of best male and best female artists into one amorphous ‘best artist’ award. This year all of the 5 shortlisted acts in line for the new ‘Best Artist’ award are male, and only 12 women were featured in the long list of 77 artists.

The decision to scrap separate sex best artist categories has angered many music fans and demonstrated that the Brit Awards is completely out of touch with the general public. It has undermined the integrity of the Awards.

Male and female vocals enjoy completely different qualities and deserve their own category so that performers can be judged against their natural peers.

The Brit Awards have managed to sideline 50% of the population in the name of ‘inclusivity’ and representation.

I urge the British Phonographic Industry, organisers of the Brits, and Mastercard, the major sponsors of the awards, to reinstate separate sex categories and ensure that both sexes are equally represented.

Yours sincerely,
