Stop Spending Our Taxes on Transgender Ideology
It has recently been revealed that the transgender charity Mermaids UK has been receiving funding from the taxpayer (£35,000) through the Department for Education.
Mermaids UK is a charity which endorses gender confusion in children and until recently Mermaids was advertising “same day” cross-sex hormone treatment for children. NHS guidelines do not allow the treatment, which causes irreversible bodily changes and can compromise fertility, for anyone under 16.
This is an entirely ideologically driven charity intent on promoting transgender ideology among children who suffer with gender confusion and their families. The state should not be giving taxpayer money to an organisation which promoting transgender ideology among children.
Many people, especially parents, are deeply concerned about the advance of transgender ideology in schools and among children more generally.
It is important to note that there is 'no true data' that affirming a child in his/her “new gender” actually helps the child. Up to 98% of boys and 88% of girls who experience gender identity issues spontaneously lose these feelings over time if not affirmed in them.
Mermaids UK buys into the falsehood that boys can really become girls and girls can really become boys. And, as we have seen, not only is this clearly untrue, but there is no evidence that teaching this falsehood to children does them any good.
