Sinn Féin just crossed the line. The radical party just took a hard turn against genuine child welfare and parents' rights.

Please SIGN and SHARE this petition telling Sinn Féin to scrap their policy of promoting puberty blockers for young teens, both North and South of the border.

Recently, one of the party’s Northern MLAs, Emma Sheerin, called for a legal guarantee that puberty blockers can be given to children in Northern Ireland as "normal healthcare".

And then, rather than condemn such a foolhardy and imprudent suggestion, Sinn Féin Party Headquarters doubled down on this wrongheaded policy and issued this shocking statement:

“Sinn Féin supports an update to gender recognition laws in the North to be harmonised with the South.”

Since the Republic only just started – and quickly suspended – its program to give puberty blockers to gender confused youth, we should understand that what Sinn Féin means by “harmonising” the law in the North with that of the South is that puberty blockers should be classified as ordinary medical “treatment”.

Of course, that is a dangerous lie. The truth is that puberty blockers are powerful, life-altering drugs which can do enormous, life-long damage to young teens who take them.

Please SIGN and SHARE this urgent petition telling Sinn Féin to scrap their wrongheaded policy of giving puberty blockers to young children in Northern Ireland.

Just this June, NHS England declared that they would no longer ‘routinely commission’ puberty blockers for under-18s affected by gender dysphoria.

This NHS decision followed an investigation by Dr. Hilary Cass which drew attention to significant “uncertainties” around what has essentially been the experimental use of puberty blockers for gender dysphoric youth.

It makes sense that a condition of the mind - gender dysphoria - cannot effectively be treated with body-altering drugs and procedures.

And, it also makes sense because puberty blockers can cause life-long, irreversible changes, such as: breast development (caused by taking oestrogen) breaking or deepening of the voice (caused by taking testosterone), and may cause temporary or even permanent infertility, and even bone density problems.

But, apparently, Sinn Féin thinks they are better doctors and scientists than those employed by the NHS. Of course, with this policy, the party just continues to discredit themselves with voters both North and South.

Please SIGN and SHARE this petition, directed to Sinn Féin, telling them to scrap their dangerous policy of treating puberty blockers as “normal healthcare”.

While Sinn Féin’s policy position on giving puberty blockers to young teens is totally unacceptable, as well as extremely unsafe for the teens which is purports to help, there are some parties, both North and South, which actually take child welfare into account.

The all-Ireland party, Aontú states: "Prescribing puberty blockers and hormones to children without proper assessment is wrong and dangerous and will lead to enormous regret amongst the very children the service is supposed to help. Irreversible damage can be carried out on children many of whom later may seeking to de-transition in the future".

And, also in relation to Sinn Féin’s support of puberty blockers in Northern Ireland, a TUV spokesman stated that following last year’s “highly critical report” of the Tavistock Clinic (the now discredited clinic which was, until recently, "treating" gender dysphoric youth from both Ireland and the UK), "one would have hoped that there would be greater caution around giving life-altering drugs to children, but it would seem not".

Please SIGN this important petition today, calling on the party to scrap its call for puberty blockers to be given to gender confused youth.

After signing, please SHARE, especially with those who you know who may support Sinn Féin, and let them know what the party is promoting. Thank you!

Scrap your call for harmful puberty blockers for young teens

The recent support shown by your party for puberty blockers for gender-confused youth is not only deeply alarming but fundamentally misguided and dangerous.

One of Your MLAs in Ulster recently advocated for the normalisation of puberty blockers as regular "healthcare" for children. But, the party did not condemn this statement but rather doubled down. By noting support for "harmonising" these policies in North Ireland with the South's, you've essentially endorsed these potentially life-altering drugs as regular treatment.

Puberty blockers carry immense ramifications, not just immediate but also potentially life-long. They carry the risk of triggering irreversible changes, like voice alteration, breast development or even infertility, to name a few. What is touted as "treatment" may end up causing irreversible damage, and regret.

Therefore, we implore you to reflect upon this policy supporting the use of puberty blockers. The NHS in England no longer commissions these drugs for under-18s affected by gender dysphoria, recognizing the uncertainties and unpredictable long-term consequences.

Why should Sinn Féin pursue a direction that even specialized healthcare institutes now regard as unsustainable?

We, the undersigned, urge Sinn Féin to abandon this dangerous policy.

You called for treating puberty blockers as 'normal healthcare,' but the potential harm they could cause is anything but normal.

We stress instead focusing on truly beneficial approaches to children's welfare and parental rights that value long-term implications and informed consent.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
