Christianity is being erased in Syria.

The situation is dire. Christians, 10% of Syria’s population in 2011, now make up only 3%. They are suffering under growing persecution. It is only a matter of time before these communities are erased entirely.

The EU, as the largest humanitarian donor in the world, holds the key to demanding concrete commitments on human rights. Yet, the new Syrian leaders’ assurances of inclusivity mask the harsh realities on the ground.

Days before the March 11 debate in the EU parliament on "The Need for EU Support toward a Just Transition and Reconstruction in Syria.", action is imperative. We can prevent genocide and protect Syria’s diversity. Let’s petition MEPs and make our voices heard.

HTS, a group with deeply radical roots, leads Syria’s transitional government today. Despite claims of moderation, they have a record of human rights abuses. If they consolidate power, Syria risks becoming a radicalized state.

The EU's leverage can demand essential guarantees for Syrian Christians. Their humanitarian status and funding capacity can promote human rights and minority protections. The EU must act; it’s both a legal and moral obligation. Without strong intervention, we risk empowering oppressive regimes and triggering refugee crises.

Supporting the petition is our chance to prevent erasing Syrian Christianity.

MEPs notice when we raise our voices collectively. Just days remain before the EU debates Syria's future! Failure to win could mean the permanent erasure of Christians and an Islamic theocratic regime enforced by HTS. Refugees now living in France might never return home. European aid could go to those who suppress freedom, fueling more instability.

A victory would let the EU insist on genuine religious freedom for Christians and minority protections. Refugees could safely return. Instead of aiding oppression, European funds would help build a stable, inclusive Syria.

Act now to change the course before it's too late. We need every voice to ensure a brighter future for Syrian Christians.

Protect Syrian Christians

Dear Members of the European Parliament,

The situation in Syria is urgent and demands immediate action. Syrian Christians are facing dire threats.

Their marginalization has escalated under the new leadership. If left unchecked, Syria will lose its Christian population.

We therefore call on Members of the European Parliament to ensure that:

  • Religious freedom is guaranteed so that everyone can live and express their faith without fear, particularly Christians, who are currently especially vulnerable.

  • The rights of all Syrians are respected by ensuring their inclusion in the constitutional process and reconstruction efforts so that they are recognized and treated as full citizens.

  • The conditions for the safe and voluntary return of refugees and their families to their homes are established without threats or discrimination.

The EU has the power to shape Syria's future through its humanitarian aid. Firmly link financial aid to guarantees of religious freedom and minority protection for Christians.

Failure to act now risks another wave of refugees and further regional destabilization. Let's prevent Syria from becoming a radicalized state.

The EU must uphold its commitment to human rights.

Your voice is crucial. Stand with us in demanding that these rights be upheld and protected in Syria.

Kind regards,
