Kenya: We support Geneva Consensus Declaration
Kenya is under intense pressure by abortionists to leave the pro-life Geneva Consensus Declaration. This is even when the laws, people, beliefs and culture of Kenya are pro-life.
The governments of Brazil, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Uganda, and the United States co-sponsored a virtual October 22, 2020 gathering in Washington, D.C. for a multinational ceremonial signing of the Geneva Consensus Declaration (so-called because it was intended to occur in Geneva before the live meeting of the World Health Assembly was postponed due to COVID-19).
33 countries from across the globe signed the declaration. From Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Niger, Liberia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Egypt, Djibouti, Eswatini, Gambia, Libya, Senegal, South Sudan, Sudan, and Zambia signed the declaration, but now abortionists want Kenya to leave.
This Declaration strengthens the countries that joined it to achieve these four pillars:
(1) better health for women,
(2) the preservation of human life,
(3) strengthening of family as the foundational unit of society,
and
(4) protecting every nation's national sovereignty in global politics. For example, it is the sovereign right of every nation to make their own laws in regard to abortion, absent external pressure.

Do not bend to pressure to leave Geneva Consensus Declaration
I would like to note with a heavy heart the continued pressure your ministry is receiving from pro-abortion groups to leave the Geneva Consensus Declaration.
The declaration re-iterates what Kenya stands for through the constitution which protects life from conception till natural death, Kenya also committed to the protection of life in the recent Universal Periodic Review in Geneva and all the policies in Kenya stand for the protection of life.
Over 85 percent of Kenyans are opposed to abortion according to a survey by Ipsos Synovate that was released on 25th August 2020.
We have followed with keen interest the continued pressure for Kenya to legalize abortion on demand by a few well-funded abortionists, we appeal to you and your office not to bend into their pressure.
We also wish to congratulate you for signing the landmark declaration which will among others protect Kenya from the pressure to legalize abortion against the country’s culture, beliefs, policies, and laws.
We will keep monitoring this pressure and if need be, we will take civil action.
