Stop Removing Uplifting Christian Content
The blogging platform Vocal.media, where bloggers can get paid per pageview and through tips, is censoring religious content while posting many articles that are sexual and homosexual in nature, and that support the marijuana lifestyle.
The blogging platform is gaining momentum through ads on Facebook and Instagram. Vocal encourages writers to be creative, and provides communities for those who want to write about marijuana, homosexuality and casual sex. But the platform discourages “overtly religious” literature. For instance, a writer submitted a Gospel reflection on the site and Vocal rejected it because it "contains religious content". While comparing its stance on religion to its stance on hate speech, the platform claims that religious content creates "alienation and division in society", and apparently believes homosexuality, promiscuity, and marijuana do not.
Help us stop Vocal from discriminating against religious content. Sign our petition today.
A simple reflection on the Gospel passage about Jesus healing a deaf man got flagged for being overtly religious.
Regarding religious content, the site says:
We've seen far too many instances of religious content creating alienation and division in society. That's why we do not publish stories that take an overtly religious stance, or function from the vantage point that a certain religion is truer, or in any way superior, to another. Characters in fiction can, of course, be religious, and we will publish stories that talk about religion in historical and journalistic contexts, but similar to our stance on hate speech, there's just no home on Vocal for content that risks creating deep divisions rather than fostering engaged communities.
Meanwhile, the "Pride", "Filthy" and “Potent” communities on the site cover the aforementioned topics that are considered divisive by many people. So clearly, Vocal is open to discussing controversial issues, just not religion and definitely not Christianity. This typical progressive approach to writing topics has to stop. People are being pushed away from exploring religion through writing, while being encouraged to write about more sensitive and divisive topics like sex, homosexuality, and marijuana.
Even YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and just about every major social media platform allows religious content and even has communities for sharing religious content. It only makes sense for a blogging platform to provide the same.
Please help us stop progressive political ideology from permeating the world of bloggers. Tell Vocal there are many people who see how it is promoting a progressive mindset on its and they don't like it. Sign our petition today.
How can a website for writers allow content about sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, and the “marijuana lifestyle” and not publish articles reflecting on the words of Christ, the most well-known figure in the history of the world? It can only do so if its users accept its progressive worldview. Vocal is clearly cherry-picking what topics it deems to be sensitive, publishing those topics they want to promote while censoring those topics they want to weed out of society.
If they want to promote the controversial topics they are already promoting, so be it. But let’s tell them if they are going to do that, then they need to provide space for religious content as well. Many writers have a passion for sharing their faith through writing. Encouraging Vocal to support such writers can even help the platform grow. Vocal even says on its guidelines page:
“Vocal envisions a vibrant and welcoming network of readers and creators who champion one another's creativity and fuel one another's passions.”
Encourage Vocal to stand by their guidelines. Send them a petition asking them to welcome those of us who are passionate about religious content, or else remove articles on other controversial issues like marijuana, casual sex, and homosexuality. Sign our petition now.
The longer we wait the more momentum the platform will get and the harder it will be to reach them. Right now Vocal is relatively accessible and there is a good chance they will heed our petition. Sign our petition and we will send it to their request page which they respond to regularly.
