Ask YOUR Representative to Co-Sponsor the Parental Rights Amendment
Do you believe that parents have a right to direct the education and upbringing of their children?
This common-sense notion is being threatened by domestic and international forces, but I have good news.
Representative Randy Hultgren (R-IL) just introduced legislation in the U.S. House that aims to enshrine the protection of parental rights in the U.S. Constitution.
House Joint Resolution 121 (colloquially known as the "Parental Rights Amendment") was introduced on Thursday. It already has 15 original cosponsors. A parallel resolution, SJRes. 48, was introduced in the Senate by Sen. Lindsey Graham in August.
Rep. Hultgren explains, “The freedom for parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children is an American tradition once established beyond debate. Yet every day, families are broken apart by state actors who presume they are able to make a better decision for a child than a parent can. With recent state laws and court decisions threatening this American value, it is time parental rights are enshrined as fundamental rights and therefore protected under the Constitution.”
Do you agree with Rep. Hultgren?
If so, please sign this petition to ask your representative to sponsor this important bill. This petition will be distributed around the country directly to YOUR representative.
Once passed, the Amendment would protect “[t]he liberty of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children,” but it requires a two-thirds vote in the House and Senate before it can go to the states for ratification. This means bipartisan support will be necessary for its passage.
Shaun Alexander, former NFL MVP and current vice-president of ParentalRights.org, is among those supporting the Amendment. He explains, “I am still amazed with how much authority the courts have over parents’ rights today. With the Parental Rights Amendment now introduced in both houses of Congress, we can begin to push back . . . The Parental Rights Amendment will protect the greatest team ever assembled—the family.”
Please stand with us to protect parental rights against oppressive government control.
