PETITION TO NEWSWEEK
Tell Newsweek —The Family Research Council is not a hate group!
Tell Newsweek —The Family Research Council is not a hate group!
Unfortunately, as we have recently seen, there are a number of hate groups alive and well in America today. We must condemn these racist, nationalist groups in the strongest terms. However, the mainstream media is intent on using the term “hate group” to refer to anyone they disagree with –particularly conservative Christians.
This cannot be allowed. Newsweek recently slandered President Trump for speaking to the Family Research Council claiming that the Family Research Council was a hate group.
It’s time to stand up to this rampant media bias. Sign this petition to Newsweek now demanding that they stop slandering groups that they disagree with. Upholding the Christian view of marriage does not make an organization a hate group.
In order to justify this slanderous title, Newsweek quotes the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) who recently categorized a number of good, Christian organizations as “hate groups” for upholding traditional marriage.
Here’s what happened. President Trump spoke at the Value Voters Submit that is put on by the Family Research Council. Here is the headline that Newsweek ran: DONALD TRUMP TO SPEAK AT HATE GROUP'S ANNUAL EVENT, A FIRST FOR A PRESIDENT.
This slander is beyond imagining. Here are the vision and mission statements of the Family Research Council.
Vision Statement:
Family Research Council's vision is a culture in which all human life is valued, families flourish, and religious liberty thrives.
Mission of Organization:
Family Research Council's mission is to advance faith, family, and freedom in public policy and the culture from a Christian worldview.
And this is a hate group? The SPLC has demonstrated over the course of its existence that it uses it platforms to bash and unfairly malign mainstream Christians and conservatives alongside disreputable extremists.
This is nothing more than close-minded bigotry against Christianity.
SPLC is the self-styled “premier U.S. non-profit organization monitoring the activities of domestic hate groups and other extremists.” What they fail to mention is that they lump anyone who disagrees with them politically into that list. Even the FBI and the U.S. Army have “deleted the [SPLC] from the[ir] lists of legitimate ‘hate crime’ resources” because it is so politically motivated.
Too often, the mainstream media plays into these sort of unthinking attacks on conservatives and Christians.
This cannot stand.
Tell Newsweek: We are here. We see the bias. And we will not be silent as long as Christian groups are unfairly maligned by your publication.
