New Mexico State rescinds job offer to Christian coach because she’s no longer gay!
Camille LeNoir knows basketball. She played in college for the University of Southern California, was drafted by the WNBA’s Washington Mystics and then went to Greece to play professionally. After her professional career, LeNoir began devoting herself to coaching and mentoring young players.
She also became a Christian and gave up the gay lifestyle that she lived previously. As a result of her Christian faith and decision not to live as a gay person, New Mexico State has rescinded a job offer to coach basketball.
Please sign this petition to New Mexico State asking them not to discriminate against Camille LeNoir because she is a Christian living in line with what the Bible teaches about sexuality!
Here’s what happened. LeNoir’s old college coach reached out to her and offered her a position as an assistant coach on his staff at New Mexico State University. They discussed her salary and her new duties as an assistant coach. But two days before LeNoir was set to fly to her new job, she got a call saying she was no longer welcome.
Why? Because several years before LeNoir did an interview talking about her new Christian faith and her decision to give up her life as lesbian, in order to live her life for Christ. LeNoir was told that unless she took that video down and recanted what she said, she would never be able to get a job coaching in college.
In fact, LeNoir was told that just the fact that she was no longer a lesbian would affect her ability to get jobs.
Basically, because LeNoir has chosen to follow Christ, New Mexico State says she can’t be an effective basketball coach.
"I have not left the basketball world. I know what the culture is like, and that has never affected how I am as a teacher, as a person. I love everybody,” said LeNoir.
Being a Christian of conviction in America is becoming increasingly difficult. It can feel as though there is constant pressure to conform to the new sexual ethic of total liberation. However, there is comfort and safety in numbers.
Let’s stand as a unified voice and ask New Mexico State not to discriminate against LeNoir based on her Christian conviction and her decision to live in line with what the Bible teaches about sex.
