Inter-American Court of Human Rights to enforce same-sex couple adoption

An international court body mandating countries to approve same-sex sex marriage, same-sex couples' rights to adopt children, and special rights for transgender people has created great concern.

CitizenGoers across the Western Hemisphere are uniting to sign an important petition standing up for national sovereignty and the natural family. Will you join?

Imagine an international form of government overriding our constitution, laws, and values. That’s exactly what countries in the Western Hemisphere face.

This comes after an "advisory Opinion" dated Nov. 24, 2017, published on Jan. 9, 2018 by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, ruling that the American Convention on Human Rights requires governments to recognize same-sex marriage, special transgender rights, and much more.

The court issued its ruling after the Costa Rican government in 2016 asked for an advisory opinion on whether it has an obligation to extend property rights to same-sex couples and allow transgender people to change their name and gender on documents.

The court ruling, all while exceeding its legal mandate and jurisdiction to interpret the American Convention on Human Rights, endorses:

  1. governments “must recognize and guarantee all the rights that are derived from a family bond between people of the same sex”;
  2. it is necessary for governments “to guarantee access to all existing forms of domestic legal systems, including the right to marriage, in order to ensure the protection of all the rights of families formed by same-sex couples without discrimination”; and
  3. governments must allow transgender people to legally change their name and gender marker on official documents.

The Court is attempting to make the ruling is binding for Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, and Uruguay.

Many of these nations have laws protecting the natural family and marriage and look to the leadership of the United States to overturn such a decision. It is up to the United States to issue a statement rejecting this decision.

Please sign our petition to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to fight to national sovereignty and the natural family against such tyranny!

Reject the decision made by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights

Secretary Rex Tillerson,

Please rejection the advisory opinion made on Nov. 24, 2017 by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights ruling that the American Convention on Human Rights requires governments to recognize same-sex marriage and transgender rights This ruling is an egregious attack on national sovereignty and on the natural family.

In order to reach the conclusion it wanted, the court ignored the accepted rules of interpretation for international treaties (Vienna Convention) and the text of the American Convention itself whose only reference to marriage limits it to the union of one man and one woman.

The decision attempts to force member states to comply by the ruling regardless of national laws or values.

Please make a statement rejecting the decision.

Sincerely,
