Christians in Syria Need Us—Now

Christians in Syria are facing an alarming and uncertain future. Since the collapse of the Syrian government, Islamist groups have risen to power, bringing fear and instability to communities that have already endured unimaginable hardships.

The same Syria where, just ten years ago, ISIS nearly wiped out entire Christian communities, burning churches and inflicting untold suffering on families simply for their faith.

Today, there are worrying signs that history could repeat itself if we don’t act now to stop it.

Recently, churches have been attacked, religious symbols desecrated, and Christian communities forced to flee, due to growing fears of violence. Syrian Christians—one of the world’s oldest Christian communities—are once again at risk of persecution, displacement, and erasure.

That’s why we’re calling on the United Nations to take immediate action to protect Christians in Syria before it’s too late. We’re calling on Ms. Nazila Ghanea, the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief, and Geir Pedersen, the UN Envoy for Syria, to:

  • Demand investigations into the violence and persecution targeting Christians.

  • Amplify the voices of Syrian Christians so their needs are prioritized in international aid.

  • Hold attackers accountable through international justice mechanisms.

  • Push the UN to pass resolutions ensuring the protection of Christians in Syria.

This could be a moment of life or death for Christians in Syria.

Every signature will send a message: we will not stand by while our brothers and sisters, and our faith are being erased from its sacred home.

Sign the petition now and help protect Christians in Syria before it’s too late. Together, we can fight for their safety and protection.

Protect Christians in Syria

Ms. Nazila Ghanea UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief

Mr. Geir Pedersen UN Special Envoy for Syria

Christians and other religious minorities in Syria are facing unprecedented levels of violence and persecution.

Since the recent collapse of the Syrian government, many jihadist forces have overrun major cities, leaving these vulnerable communities at the mercy of chaos and terror.

This reality is reminiscent of the horrors of ISIS some years ago. Christians in Syria are being hunted for their faith—churches desecrated, homes destroyed, families driven from their communities in fear.

This crisis is pushing one of the world’s oldest Christian communities to the brink of extinction. Without decisive international action, these communities risk being wiped out entirely.

I urge you to act immediately by:

  • Investigating the persecution of Christians in Syria and documenting the violence they face.

  • Ensuring Christian communities are prioritized in humanitarian aid and rebuilding initiatives.

  • Holding those responsible for these crimes accountable, using international mechanisms to bring them to justice.

  • Facilitating refugee support, ensuring that Christians fleeing persecution are given the protection and resources they desperately need.

  • Bringing this crisis to the UN Human Rights Council and Security Council, urging the adoption of measures to safeguard religious minorities.

The survival of these communities hangs in the balance. Every moment of inaction allows the violence and persecution to escalate.

I urge you to act decisively and do everything in your power to protect their lives and safeguard their rights to practice their faith.

Yours sincerely,
