Support the Resolution to Protect the Unborn in West Virginia

A founding principal in America is that all people are created equal and our endowed by our Creator with certain rights –life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Unfortunately, the history of our nation is stained with instances in which these basic rights were not upheld for all people. In modern history, the most deplorable example of this disregard for our founding principles is abortion.

Through abortion we steal the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness from thousands of babies every year. In West Virginia, 1700 babies will likely die due to abortion just this year.

Fortunately, there are now efforts in the West Virginia legislature to restrict abortion and save lives through Join Senate Resolution 12. Joint Senate Resolution 12 says the state constitution grants no right to an abortion or the funding of the procedure. This measure has just passed the Senate and is now being considered by the House. Please sign this petition to the House of Delegates asking them to approve this resolution!

Once approved by the full legislature this resolution will be put on the November ballot for a public vote by the people.

If this resolution becomes law, then the legislature would control Medicaid spending on abortions. Last year, taxpayers in West Virginia, through Medicaid, funded 1,560 abortions.

That’s why this resolution is so important.

We must remember that every abortion ends a human life that is made in the image of God. There is sanctity in each and every human life, and we must fight on all fronts to protect unborn children.

But in addition, we must never forget the women who fall prey to abortion. Their lives are devastated.

Preterm, a notorious abortion center, has a website where women can share their abortion stories. Preterm says these stories are supposed to demonstrate that abortion is a normal and commonplace procedure that women experience.

However, after reading through these stories for just a few minutes it is clear that the women who have received abortions aren’t happy about it, in fact many are completely traumatized and devastated.

Listen to one woman’s story, posted just a couple of weeks ago.

“I got an abortion and ever since, I've just felt empty. It's only been 5 days... and I want to die. I regret it so much. But there's no going back. I put the pill in my mouth and held it there I thought for a second.. Was I was doing the right thing? And my brain, My stupid, stupid brain, Said yes.

I should have listened to my heart. My heart was screaming at me ‘Don't swallow it’ But my brain made me do it. I instantly regretted what I had just done. The drive home was agonizing. My boyfriend wanted me to do it. He convinced me that it was what we needed. I have so much anger towards him.”

Our culture has deeply failed women. Notice how most of these girls say that they didn't want to get an abortion but that someone in their life said they had to or else.

It’s a sobering reminder that women who get abortions are not the enemy, they are the victim. We need to be praying for these women and coming alongside them in their grief.

That’s why it is so important that we continue to stand up and fight against abortion! Please sign this petition and support Joint Senate Resolution 12.

Support Joint Senate Resolution 12

West Virginia House of Delegates,

I am writing to urge you to support Joint Senate Resolution 12 which says the state constitution grants no right to an abortion or the funding of the procedure.

I believe that every abortion ends a human life that is made in the image of God. There is sanctity in each and every human life, and we must fight on all fronts to protect unborn children.

Please pass Joint Senate Resolution 12 so that it can be considered by the people in November.

Sincerely,
