Tell John Oliver: Bullying crisis pregnancy centers is not okay!
Crisis pregnancy centers are on the front lines of the pro-life movement. These centers welcome women and men facing unplanned pregnancies and provide real options and support. Because of the hard work of these centers, countless babies have been rescued and parents’ lives have been transformed.
However, those on the left viciously attack, defame, and malign these centers. Why? Because the “pro-choice” movement isn’t about choice – it’s about promoting abortion at all costs.
One of the most recent attacks came from the late-night show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
In the 21-minute-long segment, John Oliver twisted and distorted the truth stating that “the tactics crisis pregnancy centers often use are disingenuous and predatory.”
His attacks were completely misleading, baseless, and utterly unacceptable. Please sign this petition to the Last Week Tonight Show demanding that John Oliver issue an apology for bullying and maligning people of good faith trying to offer real options to people in crisis.
Crisis pregnancy centers offer women and men an array of services and are trusted partners in the communities they serve. They offer quality care including medical service –usually at no cost to the client.
As Pregnancy Help News reports, “Oliver’s hit piece failed to acknowledge the deep investment of licensed medical professionals involved in centers. According to recent statistics from the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI), six in 10 (or 1,661) of the estimated 2,752 pro-life pregnancy center sites nationwide offer limited ultrasound to diagnose a viable pregnancy, establish that the pregnancy is uterine, and determine the baby’s gestational age. Ultrasounds services are provided under national guidelines set forth by the American Institute in Ultrasound Medicine, the American College of Radiology, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
“One pregnancy center national network, the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), reports training nearly 3,300 licensed medical professionals in the provision of ultrasound and 4,093 in medical management since 2003. Those trained include registered nurses, registered diagnostic medical sonographers, physician assistants, M.D.’s and D.O.’s. A large proportion of these medical professionals are volunteers. They are dedicating their expertise to both serve women and families in their communities and support the sanctity and dignity of human life. Now, thanks to HBO, they, along with other center workers, are being mocked merely for their faith.”
What’s interesting to note is that while Oliver was twisting the truth and bullying crisis pregnancy centers, he never bothered to define what an abortion is.
An abortion is not an important medical decision. An abortion is not a women’s health issue. Abortion is intentionally killing a baby and removing her little body from her mother’s womb.
It is violent, it is grotesque, and it is morally wrong. Abortion is twisted, vile, and evil.
So, while John Oliver is grandstanding and twisting the truth, crisis pregnancy centers are working tirelessly to rescue the 900,000 babies aborted annually in the United States.
Proverbs 24:11 says: “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.” Pregnancy centers are doing this important, God-ordained work and are offering women the choice of real, prenatal health care – not just abortion.
