Thank Actress for Standing Up for the Right to Life for People with Down Syndrome!
Too often, the only celebrities and public figures who speak out in public life are liberal. They usually speech out in favor of Democratic candidates or “progressive” causes like gay marriage, transgenderism, and abortion. As we’ve recently reported, high profile athletes and other famous people often partner with Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and other pro-abortion groups.
There could be several reasons for the lack of conservative voices on the public figure stage, but two stand out. First, they may not be very many conservative celebrities. This is a shame and we should work to celebrate those who do speak out. And second, there may be many conservatives, but they might be afraid that if they stand up for life or against the progressive sexual ethic, they will be shunned and punished like the conservative employee recently fired from Google. Either way, we need to celebrate and encourage celebrities who stand against their whole industry and speak out for life!
Patricia Heaton, the star of Everybody Loves Raymond, recently spoke up for life on Twitter. Sign here to congratulate her and encourage more people with public platforms to stand up for the unborn!
Here’s what happened. Last week, CBS News tweeted a truly horrendous article. The headline read: “Iceland is on pace to virtually eliminate Down syndrome through abortion.” That’s right, CBS thinks that by aborting virtually every baby who has Down syndrome, Iceland is “eliminate[ing] Down syndrome.”
A lot of conservatives reacted negatively to this crazy statement, and thankfully Patricia Heaton, famous actress from Everybody Loves Raymond, was one of them! Here’s what she tweeted in response to the article: “Iceland isn’t actually eliminating Down Syndrome. They’re just killing everybody that has it. Big difference. #Downsyndrome # abortion.”
Sign this petition to tell Ms. Heaton thank you for speaking the common sense truth! Killing every unborn baby with a certain condition is not a cure for that condition—it’s straight up eugenics. The same system that led to racism in this country and Nazism and the Holocaust abroad. How can the American left simultaneously denounce Nazis while also praising Planned Parenthood and NARAL—organizations that celebrate this sort of use of eugenics? Would CBS say that if a country aborted every blue-eyed baby in the womb that they had “eliminated” the condition of having blue eyes. Of course not! Why should it be that way for Down syndrome babies.
This blatant disrespect for the value of Down syndrome lives is appalling—and thankfully, at least one celebrity was willing to call it what it is: killing. But in order to change the culture against abortion, we need to praise those who speak out for life when they do, so that more will join!
So join me in thanking Patricia Heaton for her stand and encouraging her to continue to use her platform to defend the lives of the unborn.
