Tension on the Ukrainian/Russian border has been mounting for weeks.
Now, early Thursday morning, in Ukraine, Russian soldiers invaded the sovereign nation of Ukraine. Russian forces advance from three fronts: the south (through Crimea, which was seized by Russia in 2014), the east, and the north.
Shortly after that, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine.
After the first day of fighting, 137 people were killed and 316 injured.
