Throughout the ages, a hallmark of Christianity has been the care of orphans. Christians have been revolutionary in seeing orphaned children as significant and worthy of protection. In Victorian England, orphaned children were considered scum suitable only for workhouses until the great Christian George Muller opened the eyes of the culture through his revolutionary and compassionate care for orphans.

Too often, the media only speaks out in favor of “liberal” causes. They usually speak out in favor of Democratic candidates or “progressive” causes like gay marriage, transgenderism, and abortion. As we’ve recently reported, the New York Times and other famous media outlets often promote the messages of Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and other pro-abortion groups. The sexual revolution has done great damage to American society. Promiscuous, no-boundaries sex has led to an increase in Sexually Transmitted Diseases, pregnancies out of wedlock, and broken relationships. The movement supposedly based on “love” has really wrought a generation of ungrounded hedonistic young people who increasingly reject religion in favor of sexual pleasure. And probably the biggest casualty of the sexual revolution has been the commoditization of children.

Last week, an 11-year-old boy charmed and inspired the nation when he mowed the Rose Garden lawn after contacting the White House asking for the opportunity to do so. This young man, Frank "FX" Giaccio lives in Falls Church and runs his own lawn service business. He charges friends and neighbors eight dollars per lawn, but he waved his fees for the White House.

Tragically, sometimes in pursuit of something good, we can lose sight of what is ultimate. Such is the case for the liberal church in America. During the twentieth century, some mainline denominations began to prioritize cultural acceptance over Scriptural authority. This has become even more the case in the twenty-first century. These churches and denominations are euphemistically referred to as “liberal” branches of Christianity.
