Oklahoma teachers’ union is boycotting Christian student teachers!
When will discrimination against Christians end? It seems that each day that passes, we hear more stories about overt discrimination against Christians merely because they express their faith or act on their beliefs. Wedding photographers are not allowed to decline “same-sex weddings,” Christian student clubs are not allowed to require a statement of faith for their leaders, and Christian pharmacists are forced to offer contraceptives and abortion drugs they disagree with. All of this is required in various states around the county, supposedly, to stop discrimination and promote “tolerance.”
But “tolerance” apparently does not go both ways. When Christians are discriminated against, the liberal media and secular leaders don’t even bat an eye. In this most recent case of discrimination against Christians, we must join our voices to speak out against this injustice.
As the Oklahoma Council for Public Affairs reported, the teachers’ union representing schools in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, is calling for a boycott of student teachers from the local Christian university. Why are they doing this? Because the president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Everett Piper, suggested that the sexual misconduct and misbehavior all over the nation might be due in part to what children are taught in our nation’s schools.
Sign this petition now and tell the Bartlesville teachers union not to discriminate against Christian student teachers!
But apparently these teachers take great offense to the idea that children’s minds and behaviors might be shaped by their teachers and their studies. We didn’t realize teachers thought so lowly of their own ability to mold the next generation. They shouldn’t. They have more power than they know.
Liberal blindness to the effects of the sexual revolution have been well-documented. Despite this new licentious sexual culture directly causing more flirtation and harassment in the workplace and leading to drastically rising abuse and rape statistics, liberals still refuse to understand the sexual revolution is largely to blame. Tell men and women that they can and should have sex whenever they please—that sex is “amoral”—and you shouldn’t be surprised that young adults act sexually immorally.
Indeed, Wesleyan’s president pointed to specific examples of “sex education” in schools that anyone with common sense would understand would lead to sexual misconduct and immorality. Those (graphic) examples include: middle school students in Oklahoma taught about masturbation, oral sex and anal sex; middle schoolers in Colorado being given access to videos of gay sex; high schoolers in Oklahoma given reading lists including rape erotica; and an elementary school in Chicago being taught about lube and female condoms.
Sex is being pushed on our young students, and it should not be surprising that this is leading to bad sexual outcomes in adults and students alike. Any sex outside the bounds of marriage will always lead to regrettable results—but these schools are making the results even worse.
But how do teachers’ unions respond to a Christian university president making the obvious, common sense point that the current sexual climate is bad—and it might have something to do with how we teach our children? They decide to both completely ignore this advice and then discriminate against Christian students.
Somehow, we live in a culture that simultaneously (and rightly) speaks out against sexual abuse (via groups like the #metoo movement) but also discriminates against and rejects Christians because of their sexual ethic—which if actually exercised would get rid of all of the sexual abuse in the culture. Isn’t that something?
Since this petition now to tell this teachers’ union we will not accept discrimination against Christian student teachers any longer—especially when that discrimination is because Christians believe that (shocker) sexual licentiousness is bad, especially when taught to middle schoolers.
