There is immense pressure on Christians to conform to the liberal sexual ethic of our society and celebrate gay marriage and transgenderism. During the summer, gay pride parades and celebrations shut down traffic in nearly all major cities and LGBTQ rhetoric and imagery dominate the advertising campaigns of major corporations. With so much pressure, it can begin to feel extremely oppressive.

But now there are even those that are trying to outlaw Christian teachings on homosexuality!

Today, at 1:30 the Assembly Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee will be considering AB 2943, which would make it illegal for Christians and churches to provide counseling for individuals who suffer from unwanted same-sex attraction.

Please sign this petition immediately to the Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee demanding that they REJECT AB 2943! This legislation would be devastating to the well-being of Californians!

The bill says advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual would become illegal under the state’s consumer fraud law. Sexual orientation change efforts are defined as “any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.” 

Alliance Defending Freedom Attorney Matt Sharp explains the implications: “California AB 2943 makes it unlawful for any person to sell books, counseling services, or anything else that helps someone overcome unwanted same-sex attraction or gender identity confusion. As a result, it could be a violation if a pastor encourages a congregant to visit the church bookstore to purchase books that help people address sexual issues, perhaps including the Bible itself, which teaches about the importance of sexual purity within the confines of marriage between a man and woman.”

This cannot stand! Please sign this petition now and share on your networks immediately! In addition, please consider calling the committee and leaving a message with their offices. They must know that we STRONGLY oppose this oppressive, anti-Christian law!!
