Christians blocked from caring for foster kids in Illinois? Say no.

Throughout the ages, a hallmark of Christianity has been the care of orphans. Christians have been revolutionary in seeing orphaned children as significant and worthy of protection. In Victorian England, orphaned children were considered scum suitable only for workhouses until the great Christian George Muller opened the eyes of the culture through his revolutionary and compassionate care for orphans.

However, in Illinois, the wellbeing of children without families is no longer our government’s primary concern. According to new policy changes by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, promoting the liberal sexual ethic is now paramount to anything else.

These new policy changes will essentially prevent all employees and volunteers who cannot in good conscience support and promote transgender ideology from working with foster kids who may be considered by the state to be “LGBTQ.”

Please sign this petition to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and ask them to revise these policy changes immediately.

The new policy “requires that all LGBTQ children and youth be placed in an affirming safe housing, receive LGBTQ competent medical and mental health services, and have equal opportunity and access to care.”

In addition, anyone who will serve with any child will now be required to receive LGBTQ training. The policy states, “any person who is involved with DCFS children/youth will complete mandatory training in LGBTQ competency."

This policy is clearly being used to promote the liberal sexual ethic and bar Christians from caring for orphans. How in good conscience could a Christian foster parent approve of a puberty blocking treatment for a child with gender dysphoria, for instance? Such transgender procedures for children can often be dangerous and irreversible, but are being pushed by the left despite their experimental nature. A recent study noted that standard medical protocols “seem to be almost entirely absent” from new puberty blocking techniques and doctors have “virtually no scientific evidence of effectiveness or safety.” Forcing foster parents to allow children to go through these serious, potentially dangerous procedures, or to adopt other harmful liberal sexual ethics, will force Christians out of the system.

And barring Christians from fostering and the adoption process will have serious negative consequences for children in our state!

What’s more, if we don’t allow individual Christians and religious adoption agencies to follow their religion in our state, they may close up shop as many Catholic orphanages have been forced to do around the country! Does our government really prefer less adoption and childcare in our state? This most recent law says: yes. Liberal sexual ethics are more important to them than the well-being of children. Let’s say no!

Don't block Christians from working with Children

Dear Illinois Department of Children and Family Services,

It has come to my attention that you have instituted new policy changes that will essentially prevent all employees and volunteers who cannot in good conscience support and promote transgender ideology from working with foster kids who may be considered by the state to be “LGBTQ.”

The new policy, “requires that all LGBTQ children and youth be placed in an affirming safe housing, receive LGBTQ competent medical and mental health services, and have equal opportunity and access to care.”

In addition, anyone who will serve with any child will now be required to receive LGBTQ training. The policy states, “any person who is involved with DCFS children/youth will complete mandatory training in LGBTQ competency."

Through this policy, you are barring Christians and other people of faith from working with orphaned children. Your primary concern should be the wellbeing of foster kids – not promoting a particular political agenda. Is it better for a foster child to be with a loving Christian family or in an orphanage? This new policy says that you prefer the latter.

Christians are a massive block of the population; by excluding them from working with foster kids you are cutting off thousands of volunteers and potential loving homes for children.

Please revise this policy immediately.
