Write Ellinor, the Swedish midwife who refused to perform abortions
During Advent, Christians and non-Christians celebrate a birth. The babe born in a manger, who found security in his mother's arms.
In today's world of technology and hospitals, it seems impossible that a little baby should be born in a stable. Today, in thousands of maternity wards, specialist doctors and midwives help mothers and children through what is one of the most significant moments of their lives. Doctors and midwives, who swore to "do no harm" when they eneterd the medical professional. We have to thank them for their work.
Unfortunately, in today's world, the technology of hospitals are not merely used to aid birth... tens of thousands of innocent children are not allowed to be born, and in some countries, health workers cannot assist with births if they do not agree to also perform abortions. So it was a few decades ago in communist countries, and so it is today in Sweden, famous for its "tolerance."
Swedish midwife Ellinor Grimmark was dismissed from her job for not assisting with abortion. As a midwife, she was dedicated to helping children into the world, and wanted to have no part in killing children. But in Sweden, Ellinor cannot continue with her profession. Freedom of conscience is a fundamental human right that is being violated in Ellinor's case.
Ruth Nordström and the Scandinavian Association Human Rights Lawyers are defending Ellinor before Swedish and European courts. Through this campaign, we want to bring to Ellinor the support, warmth, and esteem of all who believe in the value of unborn life and freedom of conscience.
We want to celebrate the work of a woman who has devoted her professional life to helping mothers and children, receiving in return a letter of dismissal and the inability to continue working in her own country.
By signing this petition, you can write a message of support to Ellinor here on the right. If you want, you can write a different one in the space provided. All messages will be collected and delivered to Ellinor at the end of this campaign.
I'm with Ellinor Grimmark.
How about you?
