USF Must Remove Abortion Activist as Vice-Provost
This is a very shameful moment for students, parents, alumni, and Bay Area faithful.
The University of San Francisco, a prominent Jesuit school, just appointed a board member and the current chairperson of the local abortion clinic to be in charge of student life on campus.
Please sign our petition against the shocking appointment of Julie Orio as the new vice-provost of student life.
Since 2006, Julie Orio has held a position on the board at Women’s Community Clinic in San Francisco. Women’s Community Clinic provides women with birth control, emergency contraception, and medication to end the life of a baby within the first 10 weeks of pregnancy.
Killing the unborn is not a part of the Catholic faith.
We must demand University of San Francisco release Julie Orio as her personal values contradict those of the school and Catholic Church.
The vice-provost oversees all aspects of student life, such as the code of conduct, health and wellness of students, health promotion services, and resident life.
Students seeking advice, at times, will go directly to Orio for direction and guidence. Students and Parents expect this guidence to mirror those of the Catholic faith.
When parents send their children away to school, they often choose a Catholic university because the values of the school match the values of the home.
Parents don’t expect the head of student affairs to have values contrary to those of their home.
Advocating for abortion is a disqualifier. University of San Francisco failed to do their diligence on Julie Orio.
Sign our petition asking she be replaced with someone who hold the values of the Catholic Church.
