We the undersigned call for a National Inquiry into the operations of Exit International and its director, Philip Nitschke
Recent reports of young men tragically committing suicide after accessing information at the online websites and forums conducted by Exit International pose a significant risk to public safety and run directly contrary to suicide prevention initiatives. These deaths paradoxically create suffering even though the rhetoric from Exit appears to be about relief from suffering. Families are being unnecessarily left to grieve for a loss that should not have been; asking questions in need of answers. For those lives and for their families, justice demands that answers be found. For the protection of others, to support suicide prevention and sound public policy demands that these services be stopped.
