NC school district uses “Gender Unicorn” to teach gender ideology and discourage parental involvement
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District in North Carolina just unveiled a new gender-identity training program that endangers students and threatens parental involvement in sex-education.
According to Keep NC Safe, the new program uses a so-called “Gender Unicorn” to introduce harmful ideologies and encourage students to explore their “gender identities.”
The program tells staff and teachers that parents should not be involved in decisions regarding sex-education and gender-identity. It states, “Involvement of parents in the plan is determined in working with the student, considering the student’s age and health, wellbeing and safety concerns” (pg. 34).
The program also contradicts state policy by declaring that, “Students must have access to the restroom/changing facilities that correspond to their gender identity” (pg. 42).
Furthermore, the training states that students can participate in activities (such as sports or extracurriculars) with the gender they “identify” as, and teachers are forbidden from referring to students as their natural-born genders. Instead, teachers are encouraged to use gender-neutral terms such as “student.”
Rev. Franklin Graham spoke out against the new policy, warning, “[The] Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in North Carolina wants to try to brainwash our children into accepting that homosexuality and transgender behavior is okay—and they’re using an innocent looking Gender Unicorn to do it.”
There is a school board meeting tomorrow (August 9th) at 6pm. Please sign this petition to send a clear message to the school board that North Carolina is not interested in this gender ideology brainwashing.
When you sign this petition, a note will be sent to the school Superintendent, the Chairperson of the Board, and the Vice Chairperson. The policy has already been put on hold, pending further discussions, but we need to let these authorities know that North Carolina’s citizens are watching to ensure that this dangerous training policy is promptly overturned.
