The FDA is planning to enact draconian new regulations on cigar-makers. Unless Congress takes action to exempt cigar-makers from the new federal regulations, Obama's FDA will devastate the livelihoods of small premium cigar-makers and limit the availability of hand-crafted cigars for consumers.

From among a variety of options, the FDA chose the most stringent regulations of the cigar industry. Current cigar manufacturers will be given two years to submit paperwork and their currently marketed cigars for analysis. The FDA will then take up to one year to complete the analysis and decide whether the product may be marketed in the United States. Cigars that the FDA doesn't approve will have to be taken off retail shelves.

Don't let Obama's bureaucracy take your stogies! Fight back by signing this petition!

These over-reaching federal regulations are designed to wipe out the cigar industry. But to the extent that cigar manufacturers continue to exist, the regulations benefit large mass-produced cigar companies at the expense of small craftsmen creating unique cigars.

These craftsmen will have to wait for a year to obtain FDA approval for each new cigar they create and sell. That means boutique and limited edition cigars will no longer be available. Many of your favorite brands and vitolas will simply cease to exist if these new regulations take effect!

The FDA's proposed final rule will also prohibit cigar makers and retailers from offering "free samples" of their products. If you thought America was a free country, think again... The regulations will put at least 85,000 American jobs at risk, not to mention over 250,000 jobs in Latin America—which will have profound effects on the region's economic and political stability.

These regulations will take effect on August 8, 2016 unless Congress takes action to protect cigar-makers from the crushing burden of federal regulation.

Even if you don't care about cigars, you should sign this petition. It's time for everyday Americans to push back against the overreach of the nanny state. Uncle Sam shouldn't tell small businessmen and craftsmen what size products they're allowed to sell, or prevent them from giving out free samples.

Sign this petition to lend your support to the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2015 (H.R. 662). A letter with your signature will be sent to the bill's sponsors, and an additional copy with be sent to the FDA. For more information, see the full text of H.R. 662.

Dear Representative Posey,

Thank you for introducing the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2015. I'm writing to you let you know that I firmly support this legislation.

I'm concerned by the FDA's new rule regulating premium cigars. Its effect on small business, the economy, and consumers will be disastrous. It's time for everyday Americans to push back against the overreach of the nanny state.

Please continue the fight to pass H.R.662!
