I Support Pro-Life Doctor Chazan
Support the world renowned Professor of Medicine, Dr. Bogdan Chazan, who was fired from his position as the Director of Holy Family Hospital in Warsaw, Poland for refusing to perform an abortion.
The baby was conceived in a fertility clinic through in vitro and became very ill. 22 weeks into her pregnancy, the mother came to Dr. Chazan and asked him to perform an abortion, or refer her to someone that would. He refused, referring to the conscience clause in the Polish Constitution. In Poland, much like the United States, the constitution trumps legal statutes. Article 53 of the Polish Constitution guarantees Dr. Chazan and any other pro-life doctor the legal right to freedom of conscience, thus they are not required to directly or indirectly perform or take part in abortions.
However, though Dr. Chazan’s personal liberties were protected by the constitution, the Polish government went after Holy Family Hospital, fining them with an amount equivalent of $ 23,000 usd.
Immediately after, the Mayor of Warsaw fired Dr. Chazan!
According to the decision made by Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, the Mayor of Warsaw, Dr. Chazan did not use the conscience clause properly, because he was required to give the patient the name of a doctor who would perform the abortion. Dr. Chazan felt that the act of referring someone to a doctor for the purpose of having an abortion is indirectly taking part in that abortion. The fine was unwarranted, because though Dr. Chazan did not provide the patient with the name of someone to perform the abortion, another doctor at Holy Family hospital did.
Instead of offering abortion services, Dr. Chazan, an active proponent of human dignity and the right to life, offered: medical advice for the mother, hospital care before, during and after the pregnancy, and perinatal hospice care for the child.
Dr. Chazan is a world renowned pro-life doctor and professor. He is a prominent specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. During his tenure at the hospital, he led Holy Family Hospital to achieve many awards. There are many women, children, and families, who are extremely grateful to Dr. Chazan for his professionalism and the love that he provides to every patient.
Sign our petition to support Dr. Chazan. The right to life and freedom of conscience are basic, fundamental rights that everyone deserves! For the sake of all pro-life doctors, we must protest this decision to fire Dr. Chazan.

I support Dr. Bogdan Chazan and protest against the harassment of pro-life doctors
Dear Mrs. Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Mayor of Warsaw:
I wish to express my deepest outrage about your decision to fire Dr. Bogdan Chazan from the position of Director of Holy Family Hospital in Warsaw. The decision is perceived as a form of discrimination against doctors and all people, who respect human dignity and life.
Doctors, such as Dr. Chazan, enter the vocation of Obstetrics and Gynecology in order to help women give birth, not to help them abort. Under the Polish Constitution, no doctor can be punished for refusing to directly or indirectly participate in an abortion. Dr. Chazan is well known abroad for being an outstanding specialist in his field, and more so for the level of care he provides to each patient with the highest level of professionalism.
Furthermore, I demand an end to the harassment of doctors, who as noble people respect the Hippocratic Oath, which says “I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion. But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts.”
The life of every person, including those who are weak and not able to live longer than some days, is invaluable.
