Please revoke the new Israeli labeling guidelines
At a time of significant instability in the Middle East and while Israel is facing an unprecedented wave of terrorism, it is deeply concerning that the EU chooses to impose economic and diplomatic pressure on Israel and enable further anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions calls.
The decision for new guidelines for Israeli products from Jewish settlements only helps to legitimise the BDS rhetoric of radical elements who advocate publicly for Israel's elimination. Such rhetoric should not be tolerated or rewarded by political means. This is contrary to the role that the EU aspires to play as a peace partner in the Middle East.
It is particularly difficult to justify such a decision when EU has not issued similar labeling guidelines in any of the other 200 disputes in the world or even for goods from northern Cyprus, seized by Turkey in 1974, when Cyprus is a member state. The double standards against Israel give a clear message that the EU rewards incitement and terrorism and is in effect promoting a de facto boycott against Israel.
PLEASE sign the petition to ask EU High Representative Mogherini to revoke this discriminatory policy which singles out Israel and harms Israeli people of all religions and ethnic backgrounds.
