Stop Anti-Christian BBC Video "This is how homophobia feels in 2018"

BBC Scotland have released a deeply anti-Christian online video as part of their “BBC The Social” series. The video says that Holy Communion “tastes like cardboard and smells like hate”.

The video was posted on the Facebook page of BBC The Social, a project aimed at young adults and managed by BBC Scotland, under the title “This is how homophobia feels in 2018”.

Whilst Holy Communion is an important part of worship for many Christians, it is obviously of particular significance, at least in this country, for Catholics, and therefore, whilst this video is anti-Christian in general, it is deeply anti-Catholic in particular.

At one point the video depicts a priest holding a Mini Cheddar in lieu of the Host, and giving it to a woman who makes the sign of the cross (a typical Catholic practice). Jesus “saved a lot of time when he died for our crimes, that he would’ve wasted teaching small minds that love is no sin” we are told.

He then looks at a street preacher, saying: “See him, he thinks it’s faith.” The video then cuts back to the women who received Communion and continues: “But under all that din, it tastes like cardboard and smells like hate”.

What are the implications of this? That Christians are guilty of hatred toward homosexuals. That under the guise of Christian sacraments, rituals and preaching is hatred.

Watch the video and see for yourself.

This is video is utterly inappropriate from a national public broadcaster. It is presenting what the vast majority of Christians would say is a gross distortion of their faith, and BBC Scotland owe them an apology.

Please sign this petition to BBC Scotland demanding that the offer an apology; remove the offending sections of this video or take it down entirely.

Stop Anti-Christian BBC Video "This is how homophobia feels in 2018"

To whom it may concern,

I write to you in order to complain about your deeply anti-Christian, video on BBC The Social. “This is how homophobia feels in 2018”.

At one point the video depicts a priest holding a Mini Cheddar in a parody of the Holy Communion, and gives it to a woman who makes the sign of the cross. The narrator says that Jesus “saved a lot of time when he died for our crimes, that he would’ve wasted teaching small minds that love is no sin”.

He then looks at a street preacher, saying: “See him, he thinks it’s faith.” The video then cuts back to the women who received Communion and continues: “But under all that din, it tastes like cardboard and smells like hate”.

Holy Communion is of the most profound significance in Catholic, Orthodox and Anglican Christianity and is important in many other branches of Christianity as well. This portion of the video ridicules and demeans the faith of ordinary Christians.

It implies that adherents of the Christian faith “hate” people with homosexual attractions, and this is completely unacceptable from the national public broadcaster.

The video spreads the falsehood that Christian preaching and practice is hateful.

As Bishop John Keenan of Paisley said “You cannot imagine [the BBC] treating any other religion like this.”

It is disgraceful that the BBC put out this anti-Christian propaganda. BBC Scotland and BBC “The Social” owes Christians everywhere an apology. This video should be edited to have these anti-Christian segments removed or be taken down entirely.

Atentamente,
