To Kelly: A Letter of Hope
Kelly, a 23-year-old physically healthy woman who lives in Leuven, Belgium, is being considered for death by euthanasia (lethal injection) for psychiatric reasons.

Kelly is being considered for euthanasia even though experts agree that young people, such as Kelly, can be treated and can get better. Sadly, many people experience psychological suffering but it is not a reason to kill them!
Euthanasia is an abandonment of people at the lowest time of their life; euthanasia for psychological reasons is a complete abandonment of hope.
It is our hope that Kelly finds hope and a purpose to live.

After reading your story in the Daily Mail I am moved by your pain. I send you this letter to offer you hope.
I know of other people with similar stories of psychological suffering who received good care and over time they got better. These people are happy to be alive. If they had died by euthanasia, they would not have found happiness.
Euthanasia is death and death is final.
I want you to know that you are not alone. Many people experience similar suffering and must rely on others to help give them the hope they have lost.
I sign this letter to encourage you to live and to tell you that happiness is around the corner. At the age of 23 you have your whole life before you! Today you feel like there is no hope, but tomorrow is a new day.
