Amherst College offers college credit for bashing conservative women!
We hear a lot about liberal bias against conservatives. The news media insists it doesn’t treat Republicans and Democrats differently despite numerous and obvious examples of this unfair treatment. Today’s universities are no better.
Many schools have recently created “safe spaces” for liberals who cannot handle exposure to opposing viewpoints at alarming rates. We reported months ago about several colleges, including Middlebury and Yale, siding with childish protests of students over academic rigor and freedom of expression—even cancelling events where conservatives would have presented mainstream conservative ideas. And after the 2016 presidential election, universities across the nation offered counseling and academic leniency for students who were traumatized by Donald Trump’s victory—never mind that students on the right would not have been offered the same thing if Hillary Clinton would have won.
Now, Amherst College, is showing yet again the true colors of liberal academia. It is offering a course on the topic of why some women would choose to become conservative instead of “fighting for the rights of other women.” In other words, there must be a reason that some women become conservative –because according to Amherst it couldn’t be for any moral purpose.
Please sign this petition to Amherst College, asking them to stop this anti-conservative bias immediately. A college should be a place where people of different political ideas feel free to express their opinions.
The course description states that the class will consider the consequences of “cultural conservatism” and ask the question of why some women would decide to become conservatives rather than progressives –those who fight racism and defend the rights of others.
Here’s the wording from the description, “Why have some women become prominent right wing leaders and activists while others have allied with leftist, anti-racist, and other progressive forces to fight for the rights of women and other marginalized groups?”
Students in the class will be required to read The Handmaid’s Tale, a novel about a religious patriarchal America in which women are forced into slavery and Strangers in Their Own Land: Anger and Mourning on the American Right, by Arlie Russell Hochschild.
It’s very clear the purpose of this class is to discredit and bash conservative women. Apparently, according to Amherst all conservative women are sell-outs.
This is chilling. It is now the position of the mainstream left that conservative views alone can be considered threats and harassment.
Liberal students are told their way is the right way and everyone who disagrees with them should be silenced by force.
This coddling of liberal students is not just biased and pathetic—but it is also dangerous. What happens on campus is merely a foreshadowing of what happens in public life. And we can see even now that conservative viewpoints are being discouraged and censored all over our country. We cannot allow the idea that conservatism is worthy of less protection than the new illiberalism to thrive anywhere.
This kind of intimidation must be called out. As conservatives we are fighting an uphill battle and we must join our voices together.
Sign this petition now to tell Amherst to stop its anti-conservative bias.
